Caney Lake Hike

When:  Saturday 2/10/24  9 am

Where:  Caney Lake Recreation Area https://goo.gl/maps/h3vfyfrVSk2UoqVm6

Cost:  There is a $5 per vehicle fee.  Stop at the iron ranger (check-in spot) to put your 5$ in envelope (remember to tear off the part to put on your dash) and place envelope in slot (there's also a new device at the check in station that accepts credit card payments).

Parking/Instructions:  Meeting/parking at the Upper Caney Lake Boat Launch.  There are 2 different boat launches in this recreational area so don’t go to the wrong one… we are meeting at the UPPER Caney boat launch that is near the campground.  Upon entering the park (after stopping to pay your $5) turn LEFT and follow the signs toward the campground.  Look for boat launch sign on right after about a mile(?) or less.

Bathrooms:  there are bathrooms available at the parking area

Duration:  We’re hiking the Lost Man/Woman Trail (a little over 3 miles) which should take us about 1.5 hours to complete.

Difficulty:   I would say “moderate”… there are some hills to climb on these trails

What to bring:  The “usual”… water, bug spray, hiking stick if needed.

Pets:  These trails are dog-friendly (must be leashed;  be prepared to pick up after your pet)
