Just gauging some interest in a Red River Overnight Paddle. From the Hwy 71 Sulphur River boat ramp on the Sulphur River to the Hwy 2 boat ramp on the Red River appears to be about 25 miles. There are beautiful sandbars along the river when the water levels are right with lots of camping opportunities. With a decent current, this could be a really cool paddle. Is it worth investigating further? Let me know what you think.

Harvey Kennedy shared this newsletter. Take a quick read and see if John Ruskey's words placed you on the Mississippi River like they did me. And then let me know if you might be interested in a Quapaw excursion. They have many options that look like amazing experiences for our BCOS members. https://www.island63.com/river-time-newsletter/

We camped at Bodcau during New Years and had a nice little paddle from Tom Merrill to the Twin Bridges. Unfortunately, we discovered that our take-out area had become someone's dumping ground. Not only was there household debris, but also a large dead hog. Within a week, the trash pile had tripled. David did a drive by and took this photo. I posted the photo on the Bodcau WMA North La Facebook page to bring awareness to the problem. As of today, there is 63 reactions and 54 comments to the photo. The most important comment was from a Sheriff's crew leader who offered to clean up the mess. Within a day of him seeing the post, he had a crew move the debris to the highway so the parish could pick it up! Also, we had a comment that the offender had been located and arrested! So while social media can spread a lot of misinformation and vitriol, it can also help reach those who can help resolve a problem. Kudos to the local public servants who saw the post and stepped up to make a difference!

For the June 21st meeting we will have a Game Warden coming to explain all the new WMA fees and rules. If you are as confused as I am this is the time to come and hear the answers straight from the horse's mouth!! A big thank you to @Josh Dahlem for coordinating this!

This is the forum post for the upcoming June 11th trip to the Sabine River. ** Update: Trip is on pause, likely until the fall, when it cools down.** A place for people to coordinate and discuss. I would highly suggest you buddy up with someone on here to reduce the amount of gear you need to bring, sharing a tent and cooking gear will make this a more enjoyable trip. This will be an easy one, no reason to bring a ton of gear. Also, if you are a fisherman we will be in a prime area, just remember to get your Texas fishing license if you plan on fishing.

I saw this post on Facebook and dismissed it at first as you don't need tools, it's a kayak, and then I started thinking. I do actually keep tools in my boat and have needed them on numerous occasions. For me it's a screwdriver with bits for everything on the boat and a Leatherman. I can't tell you how many times I have had to tighten a hatch or fix a seat. Aside from that I always carry zip ties and nylon webbed strapping because I have been caught without them before and it was no fun. How about you? What have you found you need to bring with you as far as tools or repair materials? It's something you never think about until it's too late.

We aren't one of those communities where you never meet the person behind the screen. We value getting to know our members and friends. While it is not required, we do ask that you please put your display name as your real name. This makes it easier for our members to find you and connect with you for events and general comradery. We are a club, what's the point of hiding behind a fake name? If you have already created an account you can go into your account details and change your display name, this is what we will see when you are active on our site. Come on in and meet everyone!
